The Ox is the person still working when the motivation wears off. Patient, methodical, and allergic to shortcuts, Oxen build slowly and almost never have to rebuild. Their word is a contract; their routines are load-bearing. What looks like stubbornness from outside is usually conviction that has already survived three rounds of doubt. The cost is flexibility — an Ox can keep pulling a plow long after the field has changed.
