Find your Kua number & lucky directions
Your birth year determines your Kua — the compass of directions that support your rest, work, and focus. Free, instant, no email needed.
Born in January or early February? Your feng shui year starts at 立春 (Start of Spring), not January 1 — we correct for it automatically, which most calculators get wrong.
Kua number FAQ
What is a kua number?
Your kua (or gua) number is a single digit from 1 to 9, calculated from your birth year and gender in the Eight Mansions school of feng shui. It sorts everyone into the East or West group and assigns four favorable and four unfavorable compass directions — used to choose which way to face your desk, point your bed, and sit for important conversations.
Why does my January or February birthday change the result?
Feng shui years follow the solar calendar, which begins at 立春 (Start of Spring, around February 4) — not January 1. If you were born before that boundary, your kua is calculated from the previous year. Many online calculators skip this correction and give January-born people the wrong number.
What do I do with my lucky directions?
Start with one reversible change: turn your desk so you face your growth direction while working, or point the head of your bed toward your recovery direction. Treat it as an experiment in attention, not a guarantee — notice over a couple of weeks whether work or rest feels different.
